THE BRIEF: Design a limited edition Livre d’Artiste for Victor Hugo’s The Alphabet is a Source. You will set the text in your artist book in both English and French.
MY THEME: Ways of communicating without using speech.
THE DESIGN: Legibility was particularly important in terms of how to set the type, on each spread I pulled out one word that links the imagery and way of communication with the text. For example ‘Construction’, music is a complex construction of different instruments, rhythms and notes which come together to create a harmonious captivating emotion provoking song, or piece of music. Hence the bright colourful flying pebble like shapes all at different levels.
